Windows Backup
Spectra Logic’s SabreDisk D500 runs Microsoft® System
Center Data Protection Manager (DPM) 2006, which automatically backs up
network-wide Windows file data to D500 SATA RAID. The SabreDisk D500
can be expanded in place from 2 TB up to 8 TB of raw storage, in 2 TB
increments. The SabreDisk D500 integrates seamlessly into your Windows
network, requiring only a few inches (3U) of rack space.
About DPM and D500
Because DPM is part of the Windows family of programs, installation and
implementation is extremely easy. DPM protects your file data nearly
continuously. DPM captures changes as they occur, storing that data on
the file system. Those changes are written to the D500 disk up to once
an hour. Snapshots for recovery can be taken up to eight times a day,
as well, with the data stored on your SabreDisk D500. Because DPM
writes data as a file system to the D500, users can retrieve their own
files, greatly eliminating frustration and staff-time associated with
recovering lost data.

Spectra D500 with DPM and Spectra Secondary Storage Solutions
You may choose to combine the SabreDisk D500 with a Spectra T-Series
library, RXT SabreDrive, or both. This complete secondary storage
solution permits data to be stored in the SabreDisk D500 running DPM
for automatic backup and rapid recovery, then copied to mobile RXT
Sabre™ RAID for near-online storage and to tape for onsite or
offsite archive to meet compliance and organizational continuity
requirements. The data can also be encrypted, using Spectra
BlueScale™ Encryption, as it is backed up to RXT SabreDrive
disk and to tape. All of this can be managed through a Web browser
login, through a single** screen. Spectra SabreDisk D500 disk and
