DATA PROTECTION UNIT (DPU)
HIGH PERFORMANCE NETWORK BACKUP AND DISASTER RECOVERY

The Data
Protection Unit (DPU) is a family of network appliances that provide
automated backup/restore and integrated BareMetal PlusTM
crash recovery to removable or RAID hard disks.
Backup to disk allows you to recover your data at a rate up to 15 times
faster than the restore rate of data backed up on tape cartridges.
"Rapid Recovery" technology will restore your OS and settings in about
18 to 30 minutes on average.
The
product ships complete with hardware and bundled software optimized and
ready for plug-n-play lights out operation; all at a price point that
brings data protection to the masses in a simplified and integrated
solution. Units include integrated ethernet connectors for quick, easy
integration into your existing network.

The
DPU
line consists of the table top small form factor DPU SFF, rack-mounted
DPU 2000, DPU 3000 and DPU 5000. The DPU family comes bundled with Unitrend's "Rapid Recovery System"
- a complete system for data protection, system recovery, and
application recovery in a single user interface that spans multiple OS
and office locations. It is an all-in-one systems approach to business
continuity ... not a series of point solutions. The true value of
Unitrends’ Rapid Recovery System is realized when an
organization implements an inclusive strategy protecting its operating
systems, applications and supporting data at every point, at
both on-site and off-site locations.

DPU units can optionally be connected to a tape drive or library
, so
that backup to tape can take place during the day, with no impact on
the operation of the network. Backups can also be taken off-site using
the "hot swappable" removable disk drives. Multiple drives can be
purchased for backup rotation.
Multiple DPUs, located across campus or across multiple sites, can be
linked to an off-site Data Protection Vault(TM)
, or DPV. The changed DPU data is transmitted automatically, via
electronic data vaulting with triple encryption using
Unitrends’ Secure Data Sync(TM)
to the DPV.
BAREMETAL PLUSTM
BareMetal PlusTM restore technology fully
automates system recovery to greatly reduce downtime in the event of a
disaster that requires a full reinstall. The crashed system is booted
from a "disaster recovery" CD or floppy disk and BareMetal PlusTM
automatically reinstalls the operating system, reconfigures the system
to its previous state, and recover user data across the network with no
need to reinstall the operating system. BareMetal PlusTM
functions across multiple operating systems.
DATA VAULTING FEATURES:
DPU-SecureSync
- Allows for Secure Data Synchronization between multiple DPUs
- Synchronizes One-to-One or One-to Many
- Data is Securely moved via LAN or WAN
- Securely transmits block-based changes in an incremental
format for best utilization of bandwidth speed
- “Virtual-Master” allows for Fast
Restores and archive Master to Tape
