ARCserve for NetWare - Windows Edition
ARCserve for NetWare is the automated backup and restore solution for your entire Novell network. This award-winning server-based software backs up all file servers and attached PCs running DOS, Windows (included in the standard package), as well as UNIX and Macintosh (offered as options). Maintaining the same innovative functions as ARCserve® DOS Edition 4.x, the Windows Edition provides enterprise-wide backup for networks of all sizes.
Using the MicroSoft Windows 3.1 Graphical User Interface, ARCserve Windows Edition manages backup easily. The intuitive front-end allows you to choose a source and destination for backup. Select the Quick Start option to begin backing up all servers and workstations in just three mouse clicks.
ARCserve provides flexible automation capabilities to ensure that backup occurs when most convenient for the user. The Auto Pilot feature provides full automation for data management with tape rotation and disk grooming features. Auto Pilot uses the standard "Grandfather, Father, Son" (GFS) tape rotation method which automatically maintains daily, weekly, monthly and yearly backups. The Disk Grooming feature automatically frees valuable disk space by moving files from the server to tape, if they have not been accessed within a specified time period.

Cheyenne JETserve
Cheyenne JETserve is designed specifically for large superservers running NetWare that require daily, full-system backup within a narrow time period. Administrators faced with the challenge of protecting critical data on these servers will appreciate JETserve's high-speed backups, RAID 5 fault tolerance and user-friendly monitoring features. Restoration procedures are fast and simple. Administrators can choose between full-system or individual file restoration.
JETserve is installed with just a few easy steps. The administrator runs a simple NLM installation utility and JETserve is operational. No need to use a workstation.
Since JETserve only performs full-system backups, commencing backup jobs is also simple. Administrators need only to choose from six menu options. There is no need to select specific files or directories. Backup jobs can be immediate, or scheduled to run unattended for a specific date and time.
An easy-to-read Activity Display lists the status of each job. With just a glance, administrators can check the time elapsed, megabytes transferred, megabytes remaining, transfer speed, and estimated completion time. There is even a graph of the backup status. JETserve's Quick Find feature can search the backup directories for individual files at a speed of 40,000 files per second. Once found, these files are restored quickly, due to the file catalog created on each tape set.
To achieve very high speeds, JETserve connects directly to the server bus, bypasses the file system and reads directly from the disk. This, combined with a multi-threaded NLM, allows data to be transferred at rates of 40 plus GB per hour when properly configured with high-speed tapes.
JETserve is ideally suited for high speed drives such as the Avax SDX-300C based units.
