Benchmark Tape Systems now delivers a backup and archive tape automation subsystem that has
enterprise class performance and reliability at a price commonly expected of low-end server products.
The Benchmark DLT7 capitalizes on the company’s dynamic and highly experienced founding team,
plus a technology transfer from Quantum Corporation to deliver this DLT technology to the network
server and workstation markets.
Benchmark’s DLT7 boasts leading edge price/performance metrics for the most cost-effective
DLT autoloader designed for mid-range servers. In addition, virtually all of the popular backup
software packages are supported by default because the command set already is utilized in existing
DLT products.
Enterprise Reliability and Performance at Desktop Pricing
Most IT professionals are grappling with the explosive growth of their corporate network data storage
requirements with technology that is poorly matched to the job. There is an ever-increasing demand

compressed) and a single drive performance of 3MB/sec native transfer rate
(6MB/sec compressed), providing enterprise reliability and performance at
desktop pricing. The informative LCD display and clear menu-driven com-mands
make the Benchmark DLT7 easy to use and configure. The Benchmark
DLT7 autoloader is small enough to be conveniently placed atop almost any
server. Depending upon your needs, the Benchmark DLT7 is available in a
desktop configuration.
Reliability and Performance
The reliability of the Benchmark DLT7 is more than designed in; it has already
been established by its accomplished lineage. As a natural extension of DLT,
the standard of reliability in the industry, we built upon that solid foundation
to provide a new benchmark of reliability. When integrated into the Benchmark
DLT7 the subsystem again sets the mark for reliability for sequential or random
access autoloaders. The 80GB compressed single cartridge capacity is ideally
suited for networked NT servers in small to medium sized businesses and
individual RISC-based high performance work-stations. When used in the 7-
cartridge autoloader the Benchmark DLT1 tape drive is perfectly matched and an ideal automation
product. Its backup speed of over 20GB per hour fits within most IT professionals’ typical backup
windows. The seven cartridges are encased in the small footprint enclosure which makes the
Benchmark DLT7 the ideal autoloader for small to mid-sized NT environments. When used in a
typical rack-mount configuration, two Benchmark DLT7 autoloaders can be placed in only seven
vertical rack inches, providing over a terabyte of capacity.
